Urban Training Villages

Night shot of Sandia Village.

O'Gara Training & Services has provided a myriad of Training Facility modifications and additions as well as Urban Training Villages/IED Training Lanes to the joint service DOD community. During this time, we have developed a reputation for being an industry leader in providing top-notch C-IED training services and materials. This includes recent experience with USN, USA, USMC, Sandia National Laboratories, JIEDDO and other joint service DOD agencies in support of simulated urban and rural environments, professional instructional aids, HME Laboratories, materials and C-IED training.

Our technicians have recent real-world combat experience in both Afghanistan and Iraq. They apply this expertise to all aspects of site modification to ensure that the materials and appearance are IAW real world locations encountered during combat missions. The organization, quality, and attention to detail of this initiative will ensure that these training venues deliver the highest levels of realism and relevancy, ultimately preparing today's warfighters for potential threats that they may be exposed to in-theater.

Our experts use real-world experience to simulate years of use with evidence of moderately deteriorated but functioning infrastructures. We accomplish this through staining and aging the exterior surfaces, as well as staging an accumulation of materials, debris, vehicles, and other evidence that create the appearance of a living and working environment. The finished product will immediately transport warfighters into the operating environments of a third world country.

Additionally, we install windows, modify doors, and perform other mechanical additions and modifications to improve the physical execution of the training exercises. This will provide a more user friendly and maintainable environment for trainers, role-players, and the troops in training.

Room configurations vary with customer requirements but will generally consist of furnishings, pictures, wall decorations, plates, cookware, pictures, clothing, blankets, squat toilets, etc. as appropriate to individual room function. Living areas, kitchens, and utility rooms will contain entertainment electronics, appliances, and materials adequate to convey their intended themes.

Businesses are outfitted with appropriate signage, retail displays, packaging, counters, offices, storage, and cash boxes/registers. Themes can include professional services, electronics retailers, clothing retailers, bicycle repair and sales, used farm equipment, tire shops, battery vending and charging services.

O'Gara's Technical Service Branch is comprised of formerly deployed Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians with years of clandestine laboratory building and real world experience enabling them to provide these highly sought after HME and IED training venues. These specialized skills and experience support the realistic and relevant training our war fighters require to safely complete the mission.
